Women's Rights & Cancer Act
Breast cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in the United States. Approximately 1 in 8 women in the United States (12%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime.
Recurrence of breast cancer is rare. However, if it occurs, the options for reconstruction are impacted by the treatment choices that were made for the original cancer treatment.
Plastic Surgery Northwest physicians provide excellent care to our patients, but also influence breast reconstruction nationally through cutting-edge research.
Plastic Surgery Northwest works to educate and support our breast cancer patients and the community at large.
In 1998, the Women's Health and Cancer Rights Act became a federal law. This federal mandate guarantees a woman's right to breast reconstruction of the cancer breast, and to symmetry procedures for the healthy breast.
